The floods came at the end of what may become one of the wettest Junes on record. More than 1,000 homes and businesses were flooded last weekend during torrential downpours across the north, with a month's rain falling in 24 hours in some places. Earlier in the month, heavy rain caused flash floods in west Wales.Tyneside faced heavy downpours and flooding that forced the closure of roads, the Metro network, the Tyne tunnel and Newcastle's MetroCentre. All Metro trains remained at a standstill overnight, while the Tyne tunnel was opened after the floods subsided.

There were widespread power cuts in the area, with 15,000 homes in darkness overnight as Northern Power Grid engineers worked to resolve the problem. North Tyneside council said it dealt with more than 200 flood-related incidents in the borough and that at least eight schools would be closed on Friday due to flooding or water damage.

Public buildings, including leisure centres and libraries were closed and were expected to remain so on Friday, while residents in Gateshead, Wallsend, West Monkseaton and Longbenton were evacuated from their homes as drainage systems became overwhelmed by rainfall.

Mike Ellis, a maths teacher, died after being swept away by floodwater in a stream at Bittlerley, near Ludlow, Shropshire, on Friday morning, while a 90-year-old man was among a number of people rescued from vehicles by fire crews following flash flooding in the Bridgnorth area of the county.

Northern Ireland and the Irish republic were also hit by floods, with a loss of power in more than 10,000 homes in the Cork area and 1,000 in Northern Ireland.

Hundreds of homes and businesses were damaged by flooding in the Cork suburb of Douglas, while parts of Belfast and County Antrim were also badly affected.

The Environment Agency has 10 flood warnings in place in the Midlands, north-east and north-west of the country, but the worst of the weather looks to be over.

Nick Prebble, a forecaster for MeteoGroup, the weather forecasting arm of the Press Association, said: "Today there will be a mixture of sunshine and showers across the UK with temperatures cooling off.

"Most parts of Britain could experience the odd passing shower during the day, but the focus of the heavy downpours will be across Scotland. Northern parts could also have a few thunderstorms but the weather doesn't appear to be as severe as yesterday."

“I haven’t had any surgery. I know they always say, ‘She did her butt, she did her nose’, and all that stuff, but I haven’t."

The socialite also revealed that she was impressed by the results of surgery on her mum, and confessed to considering perhaps having something done in the future.

I’m not against it – my mum had her neck done and I think they did a really good job and she did exactly what she wanted. So when I get older, knowing me, I’m so crazy that I will probably have something done. 

"Kim has previously had wrinkle-freezing Botox injections, although she wasn’t too keen on the results, it is a process she would go through again.

CHINESE WOMAN FORCED TO ABORT A 7 MONTHS OLD FETUS !

A western Chinese city fired the local family planning bureau chief and punished other officials after a woman was forced to abort her seven-month-old fetus.

The officials in the Zhenping region of Ankang city violated china's family planning laws in the case of Feng Jianmei, 23, the Xinhua News Agency reported yesterday. Feng’s family has also been offered compensation, it said.

Feng’s case sparked public outrage after photos appeared online showing her lying next to the aborted fetus. She was forced to have the abortion after she couldn’t pay a 40,000 yuan($6,200) fine to have a second baby under the country’s one- child policy.

“Some staff of the township government used crude means to violate her intentions,” Xinhua said, adding that there was “no legal basis” to demand the 40,000 yuan payment.

Feng said in an interview yesterday that she was not being allowed to leave a hospital where she’s recovering and feels “under a lot of pressure,” the New York Times reported today. The newspaper quoted her sister-in-law as saying Feng’s husband was beaten last week when he tried to see a human rights lawyer in Beijing

Coming on the heels of a successful worldwide Broadway production of his life story – FELA and a soon to be released Hollywood production of the same, the late Afro-beat creator, musical icon and activist Fela Kuti is again being immortalized as his last residence at 18, Gbemisola Street, Ikeja, Lagos is to converted into a museum.

The Lagos State Government has approved and will support the ultra modern project. When completed the building will have an exhibition area, a coffee shop, a 5-room boutique hotel, a roof-top restaurant, a bar and stage, a souvenir shop, a passenger lift, the tomb area and the car park.

When established, the Museum will achieve the following: the preservation of the history of an illustrious son of Africa, promotion of tourism in line with the Lagos State’s Mega City initiative, acquisitions, display and preservation of the artifacts, documents and records of the man referenced as well as those of his contemporaries of African ancestry, custodian of collectors’ and historical items-bordering on fine and folk arts for public enjoyment and for scholars to assist in researches, ready accessibility of authentic materials and relics on the man referenced, serve as an educational, historical and cultural institution of music and musicality of African origin and entertainment of visitors to the museum.

The Kalakuta Museum is conceived and managed by Total Consult – a reputable firm of architects and builders of numerous projects notably the conversion of the first colonial prison in central Lagos to The Freedom Park, a fast rising historic and tourist spot in the city.

The Museum is supported by the Lagos State Government and scheduled for opening in October 2012 in time for ‘FELABRATIONS’- the annual musical festival celebrating FELA’s life and his birthday on October 15th. The project is marketed by integrated marketing, media and entertainment management consultants Inspiro Productions Ltd.

An eyewitness who spoke with an online blog, NET,  said the 19 year old singer had gone for a video shoot at DJ Tee’s studio with his two siblings Dolapo and Mobolaji. However, trouble started when DJ Tee asked those who were to appear in the video shoot (including Tolani and Dolapo) to move on set while the others move out of shooting range. Dolapo’s girlfriend who wasn’t supposed to appear in the shoot stayed back on set.The eye witness said, a visibly angry DJ Tee  ‘rudely told her to get out’.‘He started screaming for her to get out, calling her bitch and stuff’, Dolapo, obviously upset, talked back at the director, trying to caution him but DJ Tee allegedly slapped him and asked his boys who were also at the shoot to beat him up.‘DJ Tee’s boys  immediately pounced on Dolapo and started beating him up,’ the anonymous eye witness was reported to have said.‘As Mobolaji screamed and watched helplessly as her elder brother was being beaten up, DJ Tee asked his boys to beat her up too. Tolani tried to intervene in the whole matter, DJ Tee approached Dolapo to stab him with a bottle he just broke. Tolani intervened and DJ Tee stabbed him with a bottle he just broke.

DJ Tee tries to deny his cruelness by tweeting;

"Bro, I did not stab you…….why are people saying I picked up a bottle & stabbed you with it on your face". DJ Tee tweeted at Alvin.

"He [Alvin[ was an extra on shoot I did today, its long story anyway he smashed a bottle against hard metal above our head. The bottle shattered and cut me and him….broken pieces that was shattered around us. The stabbing thingy was not true…..it was shattered broken pieces anyway. It's all good", @DJTee explains as he tweeted at bloggers Twitter handles. Alvin is yet to give his own side of the story but his sister confirms that DJ Tee actually stabbed him.

NAIJA PASTOR RUN MAD WHILE PRAYER FOR A PASTOR...LORD HAVE MERCY !!!

A pastor, whose name is Timothy, according to an eyewitness, got to Ososami junctions of Oke-Ado, Ibadan, oyo state. around 5.20 p.m and went to meet the mentally-deranged man, popularly known as Tunde, who was sitting in front of a building in the area. 

According to Semiu, a shop owner around the spot of the incident, the pastor began to read the Bible on sighting the mad man, while he moved closer to him and laid the hand on his head. 

“At a point, there was a hot argument between the duo, which made the pastor to raise his voice as he was offering a deliverance prayer for Tunde, the mad man. The hot prayer lasted for over 15 minutes before another strange drama began,” Semiu told the Nigerian Tribune. 

Another witness, an okada rider, said at a point, the mad man removed the pastor’s hand from his head, adding that “suddenly, a strange spirit got hold of the pastor and he began to remove his cloth. He was naked and laid flat on the ground, speaking a strange language, with foam oozing out of his mouth.” 

The mad man, it was gathered, initially left him in this position and sat at some distance away from the pastor, before the duo later sat closer to each other, while onlookers watched the strange drama.

SEUN KUTI SURVIVES CAR ACCIDENT !!!

Seun Kuti was, unknown to many, involved in an automobile accident on his way from his brother, Femi’s 50th birthday bash two weeks back

According to Entertainment Nigeria, the accident happened on the night of Saturday, June 16, 2012, eye witness says  the young musician ran into a pole along the Agidingbi road in Ikeja.

Although the musician could not be reached immediately,  his elder sister Yeni Kuti, confirmed the accident; saying Seun is fine and presently out of the country.

‘He is doing fine now. He didn’t sustain any injury and he is right now abroad‘, she told us over the phone.

Thank God for seun kuti's life, it could have been worse than this u know...

Karrueche Tran appears to have silenced the rumours of a love triangle by enjoying a date with boyfriend Chris Brown.

The model has been at the centre of rumours that her relationship with Chris is on the rocks after his reported reconciliation with Rihanna, but if her Instagram photo is anything to go by, Karrueche and Chris appear to be on good terms.

MICHAEL JACKSON'S TIGER(Thriller) DIES OF LUNG CANCER

Thriller, the famous pet tiger which belonged to the late Michael Jackson has died.

The 13.-year-old animal that lived at Jackson’s Neverland died of lung cancer at theTippi Hedren‘s wildlife preserve near Los Angeles on June 11. An autopsy was performed and the tiger was cremated.

Hedren says Thriller and brother Sabu were born in 1998 and lived with Jackson until 2006 when Jackson left Neverland. Jackson’s veterinarian asked Hedren to take the cats at her Shambala Preserve in Acton. She says a $79,000 compound was built on a lake and Thriller had a great life with Sabu.

Despite Jackson’s love of animals, Hedren says he never called to check on the tigers and never sent any money to help pay for their care.

What a shame, poor thriller !!!

Cesc Fabregas converted the decisive spot-kick as Spain reached the final of Euro 2012 after a nail-biting penalty shoot-out victory over Portugal in Donetsk.

Fabregas fired his shot in off the post to send Spain through after Bruno Alves had hit the bar for Portugal.

Earlier, Cristiano Ronaldo had missed a good chance to put Portugal through in the last minute of normal time while Portugal keeper Rui Patricio made superb saves to deny Jesus Navas and Andres Iniesta in extra-time.

The Spaniards had started better, and ought to have gone ahead from their first chance in the ninth minute when Manuel Negredo pulled the ball back for Alvaro Arbeloa to fire over the bar from the edge of the box.

Andres Iniesta blazed over from long range a minute later, but Portugal threatened in the 13th minute through Ronaldo, who beat Gerard Pique down the left before crossing towards Nani, with Iker Casillas jumping to make a crucial interception.

Paulo Bento's men had clearly wrested the upper hand, suffocating the Spanish midfield and worrying their opponents through the persistent threat of Ronaldo and Nani up front.

But Spain still almost contrived the grab the lead against the run of play in the 29th minute, when Xavi's clever ball found Iniesta on the edge of the box, who rolled the ball onto his right foot before floating a shot inches over Rui Patricio's goal.

Sources say the funky pastor dramatically announced the shocking news to his Household of God Church congregation today.

‘Stephanie and I are no longer married. We have separated. You can see she’s not in church today. It’s due to irreconcilable differences and you should please respect our wishes at this time because there is no going back’, the three-time presidential candidate reportedly announced during service.

Okotie will be divorcing for the second time.

Stephanie has now been married three times and has three children from her first two marriages.

ENGLAND CRASHED OUT OF EURO 2012 !!!ENGLAND- ITALY (2-4) ON PENALTY

England crashed out of Euro 2012 in agonising fashion after losing to Italy on penalties.

Ashley Young and Ashley Cole missed the crucial spot-kick before Alessandro Diamanti scored the winning effort.

Italy came closest to grabbing a winner before penalties when Antonio Nocerino headed home, only for it to be chalked off after he was caught narrowly offside.

The two teams both had a string of chances in the opening minutes but none were taken as the match headed into a nervy extra-time.
